Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics offers a range of Meldin® thermoset polyimide materials to provide design engineers various options of polyimide grades to best suit their applications and designs.
All of Saint-Gobain's thermoset polyimides have no melting point or glass transition temperature (Tg ) below their continuous use temperature limit. As a result, Meldin parts remain dimensionally stable throughout their entire operating temperature range. In addition, the Meldin thermoset polyimides exhibit low outgassing, good purity, balanced electrical characteristics, and excellent mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.

OTHER DIFFERENCES: Meldin 7000 is more readily machined, and is slightly tougher than Meldin 2000. Meldin 7000 is offered in 12" and 37" long rods; Meldin 2000 is offered in 12" lengths only.

** Meldin 7000 has no softening point. TGA tests show it burns off less than 5% by weight up to temperatures of 600ºC (1112ºF).
